BP Power BallsThis peanut butter ball of goodness recipe is thanks to my Sister.  She is always finding fun and good recipes.  I’m trying to live on the healthier side of things and since I have been on Lent and trying to not have anything with more than 10g of sugar, I decided that these would be all right to eat, since
they are made with Continue reading →

I never thought I could have a guilt free waffle.  I usually think of them as a treat that I get when I stay at a hotel and go for the complimentary breakfast.  You know, they have the big waffle machines.  You pour your batter into a plastic cup then pour it on the waffle machine.  You have to do this weird thing where you flip the waffle maker over.  And then in a few minutes Continue reading →

After I told my sister about Chia (a blog is coming all about it soon) she found a recipe for jam in one of her fitness mags she reads.  I don’t think it was the actual “Fitness” mag that she got it from.  After reading them for a while they are pretty much the same – they start to blend together.  Anyway, we made the jam together.  After making it and tasting it we both decided we would never have to make the traditional jam again!

I finally tried pickling!  I started off with dill pickles because they are pretty easy to make – well the recipe looked easy enough.  I did have help for my first time, which I am very thankful for!  But I will be trying it again on my own as I still have quite a few cucumbers left.  My garden went crazy with producing cukes this year!

My Mom doesn’t make dill pickles because she says they don’t turn out for her.  She makes mustard (my fav homemade pickle) and relish (not a fav… but my Mom knows that).  I grew up watching her make pickles. Continue reading →

gluten free, quinoa, recipe

I made this recipe for my sister and her coworker the other day for lunch.  We all loved it.  Of course when I cook I don’t always follow the recipe to the letter, so I will give you the recipe from the book, and then I will tell you what I did differently.  I always encourage creativity when cooking!

If you would like to know more about quinoa (pronounced keenwa) read my post Superfood – Quinoa or visit Quinoa365

You mostly see the other goodies in the meal, rather than the quinoa, but it is in there!  See the little brown/redish specks… that’s it.  Remember it’s like rice and fluffs up 3 x its size. Continue reading →
