I’m not an expert at wedding cake decorating. I’ve only creating three wedding cakes, but with each one I have improved my wedding cake making skills.

Let’s get this out in the open right off the get go. I don’t like fondant. I don’t use fondant. The fondant roses on the cakes below were created by my sister.

I’ve learned that when creating a wedding cake you need the right tools and the right procedure!

The right tools are needed.

  • Cake layer cutter
  • Angled spatula
  • Cake boards and dowels

Happy American Thanksgiving!  I’m Canadian and I haven’t participated in American Thanksgiving before.  I’m not sure if that is what we were even doing or if it was an excuse to get together and eat some turkey.  But not just any turkey.  Deep fried turkey!

Friends decided to do this last year, but the set up was a little more ghetto, from what I hear. They did it again this year so I decided to go.  Thanks to Kijiji it was a little more sophisticated this time around. I made this recipe for my sister and her coworker the other day for lunch.  We all loved it.  Of course when I cook I don’t always follow the recipe to the letter, so I will give you the recipe from the book, and then I will tell you what I did differently.  I always encourage creativity when cooking!
