Wow! I am excited to report that I completed this challenge! And it was a challenge. I’ve had a lot of hits on my blog from people searching for information on this challenge, so I decided to answer questions that showed up in Google Search Terms on my stats report. My answers relate to what I did and my experience with the challenge. If you want to see how I really did you will Continue reading
I saw a similar challenge on a blog I follow and I looked at a few others from searching on Google. There is no fun graphic for this one, just a list. (Update: after I wrote this blog this pic popped up on Google pictures so I snagged it.) I know Jillian would say to add in some weights and do something with your arms in there. But for now, I’m going to try it out. Let’s see what happens in 30 days! Continue reading
I haven’t written on exercise in a while. Probably because I haven’t really been doing any so why would I want to confess to all of you that I have been sitting on the coach watching Netflix and eating not so great! I can’t tell you that! I’m suppose to be living a healthier lifestyle.
Well, for me living a healthier lifestyle isn’t always easy! Continue reading
I know that I have written about my sticker reward system for exercising, but I thought I would mention it again since I’ve started to exercise regularly again. I stopped my system because who wants to see only 1 or 2 star stickers on the calendar in one month. It’s kind of depressing. I much rather enjoy seeing my monthly calendar full of star stickers!
Here is the plan (it’s pretty simple):
Every day that I exercise I put a star sticker on my calendar. It’s not just gold stars. They are different colours and when I run out of stars I use whatever little stickers I have around. It’s nice that something so little is so motivating. And just because kids love stickers doesn’t mean that adults can’t either!
It has to be 15 min or more of exercise. Whether that is walking, jogging, weights, workout video, swimming, tennis, skating, biking, snowshoeing (can’t wait for winter), or some other type of exercise. Cleaning the house or walking up and down the stairs because my room is in the basement doesn’t count!
What motivates you to get up off the couch or out of bed in the morning to exercise? Or does it just come to you naturally?
Remember, just because you exercise doesn’t mean you can eat whatever you want! Sometimes I forget this (maybe a lot of times). Healthy eating and portion size are very important. Something I am continually working on (like so many other things). I just really love chips and candy and sweets. It doesn’t help that I have a huge bowl of candy on my desk from Halloween. Amazingly the last two days I have not gone into it … that much!
How are you trying to live a healthier lifestyle? Or does it even matter to you?
This has nothing to do with this blog (except it’s a gold star). I found it while I was looking for a picture of a gold star sticker. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Perhaps because I’m a bit of a slowpoke at times. 🙂

I’m sure you are all wondering if I completed my goal of jogging the big block by the end of the summer. I wish that I could say that I was able to complete this goal, but unfortunately I didn’t. I will still keep this goal in the back of my mind as I would like to be able to jog 5K at some point, it just didn’t happen this summer. It’s hard to accept that I didn’t accomplish this task, especially since I put it out there through the blog. It just shows that we are not perfect and not able to do everything that we set ourselves to do, and that is ok. One day I’ll do it.
I was looking forward to get into jogging this week while I am at my parents in NB, but I’ve been sick with a cold. I’m getting better so hopefully it won’t be long before I am out on the road again. No matter what goal you set for yourself, don’t be discouraged if you don’t complete it. Do your best and continue forward. Reset your goal and try, try again.
